Walnut Veneer Bureau BookcaseA beautiful Walnut Veneer Bureau Bookcase dating from the 1930'sThe bookcase has 3 shelves which are supported by brass pegs that are adjustable to 4 different heights. The doors are Astragal glazedwith a tasteful design with the glazing bars. The original brass lock in working condition locks the right door along with 2 brass sliding bolts on the left door.The bureau is elegantly set on cabriole legs combined with small proportions creating a very attractive piece of Art Nouveau. The 3 drawers are nicely decorated with original brass patterned drop handles set on open work back plates and brass locks and escutcheon. The 3 drawer locks operate but do not remain locked. Either side of the top drawer are the lopers which extend and retract automatically when the fall front is lowered and closed. Inside the bureau are 2 drawers and pigeon holes.
